To have an active, not passive, children’s ministry. By this,
EVERYTHING we do is centered on Christ. All members of Grace Church,
as well as the parents, will take an active role in teaching our
children. The parents should be the primary spiritual teacher, with
the church reinforcing those beliefs. We need to realize that this
is not just playtime, that the process of teaching our children is
serious business, and should be considered as such by all those
involved in the teaching of our children. Church should be fun, but
it should also be taught that it is a place of reverence and
learning about Christ.
We start teaching our children at a
young age and saturate them in biblical truths. To do this, we teach
them 1) Basic beliefs – for each grade level, there is a set of
statements that teaches the foundations of our faith. 2) Scripture
memory verses - for each grade level, a specific set of memory
verses. 3) Worshiping through song - singing praise songs during the
Sunday school hour, as well as singing in church. 4) Prayer - why we
pray, the components of prayer, praying Scripture, prayer
journaling. 5) Serving others – an age-appropriate service
project.
