Mark 28: 16-20

Mark 28:16-20 ESV
As you re-read the scripture for this week, you may consider the following questions:

  • How does it strike you to hear that only 11 disciples went down to Galilee?
  • Where had they come from?
  • Which mountain did Jesus direct them to go to? (You may need to read more of the chapter).
  • If Jesus came to them, where had he been?
  • These verses are called The Great Commission.  Who is Jesus commissioning? Does that commission extend to us?  How?

Consider reading the passage three times, once, then out loud, then again, more slowly.   With each reading, ask God to show you the deeper truths of discipleship.

Matthew 28:16-20
English Standard Version
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
