The Truth
The Truth
Don will preach on Isaiah 5 this Sunday, June 9. You can read the text of the sermon HERE.
As you read, ask God for insight and understanding.
You may consider asking yourself:
It's easier to see the sins of others than to face our own sins. The Lord is gentle and kind with His children. Ask him for the courage to see your sins as He sees them. Ask Him to change you to conform to His will. Unlike some of our earthly fathers, the Lord is patient is waiting for you to ask for His help. Ask Him how you might tend the vineyard of your soul.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
These verses aren’t just referring to our salvation, but to the rich, abundant life we can have in Christ Jesus.
Grace Discipleship: Pray for unity in the church
Grant, O Lord, that the course of this world may be peaceably governed by your Providence and that your church may joyfully serve you in confidence and serenity through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.
As you read, ask God for insight and understanding.
You may consider asking yourself:
- What is the vineyard?
- Who has tended to it?
- Is there a shift in tone in the passage? From positive to negative for vice versa?
- How many sorrows are listed? What are they?
- Why will the people go into exile?
- What have the people rejected?
