Confronting Evil
A famous quotation often credited to Edmund Burke states: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” At first blush, all of us affirm this, but what if you happen to be the good person who is being called upon to do something? (Richter 10).
Take a moment to identify one injustice in your world that rankles in your soul. Big or small, something that touches you directly or not. Something as small as politics at your office or as big as human trafficking. Now ask yourself these questions:
Isaiah was called to confront a rebellions people. Consider what type of character traits he might have to complete this task. Take a moment to jot down words that you think describe Isaiah’s character. As you write and reflect on the text of Isaiah 2:1-4:6, ask God for insight and wisdom to learn from Him.
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. Psalm 86:11

- Who is victimized by it?
