In the Eye of the Storm
In the Eye of the Storm
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Psalm 20:7
We may not trust in horses and chariots anymore, but we often misplace our trust even (or especially) in modern times. We trust our cars and car insurance. We trust our 401Ks. We trust government leaders (or at least we hope to trust them). We trust in health insurance and medicines. We trust in the words of humanity. In the blink of eye, all these things can disappear. Do we put our full trust in the Lord, our God? In Isaiah’s time, everything was headed downhill quickly; many of us see our world speeding in the same direction. Can we trust these world systems, or can we fully trust in our loving, omnipotent God? Insurance, savings accounts, and modern medicine are good, but not ultimate or eternal. We are always safe in our Father’s arms. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Listen to His voice. His ways are everlasting and eternal.
Grace Discipleship: Needs of others, hungry, oppressed
For the Church, that Christians may never dismiss the hungry but feed them as Jesus says, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
For the hungry, that they may feel God’s love through the generosity of their neighbors, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
For the oppressed, that they may receive the freedom and healing that they need, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
