I saw the Lord
I saw the Lord
The sermon text from this week is Isaiah 6:1-9:7, which you can read HERE. It contains some of my favorite lines of scripture:
It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with his glory!”
I often wonder who or what in my life would have to die for me to see the Lord, high and lifted up, surrounded by singing angels. The Lord is ever near. May we have eyes to see Him clearly, as Lord of all.
This scene is full of imagery. Ask the Lord for his guidance and insight as you read. You may consider what it would feel like to actually BE in that scene.
Ask God to show you the truths He would have you to know here.
Grace Discipleship: Pray for church unity
God of all, we pray as one, that we may be one, just as the Lord Jesus prayed we may be one in Him. Your son Jesus compels us to be reconciled to one another. May our spirits be joined to Your Holy Spirit, that we may witness to the visible unity of your Church. May we all recognize that we are truly one with You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and grow together in peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

- What do you hear? Is it loud or quiet? Who do you hear? What are they saying?
- What do you see?
- What might they be wearing?
- If you could reach out and touch something in the scene, what would it be? How does it feel?
- What can you smell? People? Sweat? Fear? Angels? Fires? How might the smells contribute to the tension of the scene?
- How does the Lord respond to Isaiah?
- How does Isaiah respond to the Lord?
- Who are the enemies of God? Why?
Ask God to show you the truths He would have you to know here.
