The Character of God
The Character of God
Last week, I asked you to look at what the Lord was doing in chapters 13 & 14 of Isaiah. This week, I’d like for us to look at the character of God in these chapters; if you only take time to look at one chapter, I suggest chapter 14.
Ask yourself as you read each verse: What does this verse say about the character of God? Make a list of the characteristics of God based on these chapters. God’s nature does not change.
For example, 14:32 says “What should we tell the Philistine messengers? Tell them, The Lord has built Jerusalem; its walls will give refuge to his oppressed people.”
Characteristics of God
V. 32: Cares for the oppressed
Keep this list tucked in your Bible or somewhere you can refer to it. We are a forgetful people. In times of trouble and doubt, we need to remind ourselves of who God is: He is our everlasting, unchangeable, longsuffering, tower of refuge.
(Psalm 102:27 says, “But you are always the same; you will live forever.”)
Grace Discipleship: Pray for the lost
“For Jesus Christ came to seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10) Christ, may your will be done in the lives of the lost.
Lord, we pray “that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-5
