The Wilderness
One of the most important themes of the history of salvation is the wilderness journey.
Take some time to read Isaiah 43:1-7 while thinking about the wilderness journey.
Remember that God sent Israel to Egypt and then later delivered them back into the Promised Land through the wilderness (desert). Here again in Isaiah, the Israelites would have to come back to the land through the desert. It is a theme of spiritual life.
Why do think God delivers His people through the desert?
What promises does God make to Israel?
Water is a symbol of death and fire is a symbol of refinement.
In v2, think about your life and the ways the Lord is delivering you through death and refining you through fire.
Finally, read Psalm 13 from the perspective of a personal in the wilderness of their spiritual life. How does this journey reflect in your life?
